Christian Outreach Ministries of New Bern A Sabbath-keeping Church |
Christian Outreach Ministries of New Bern (COM) was established in October of 2006 when Elder Loretta Williams met with a core group to share her vision and mission of a church that ministers to the whole person. Those in attendance felt drawn by the Holy Spirit to support Elder Williams in this vision of ministry. Though few in number, our first Sabbath service was held on February 3, 2007 in the sanctuary of the Church of God of Prophecy located on Oaks Road in New Bern, North Carolina. In August of 2007, COM moved from Oaks Road to 1229 Colony Drive, an office strip where we outgrew our original unit and added a second unit during the 4+ years we were there. In April 2012, COM moved to its present location at 201 Ellington Street, where we now reside. COM reaches out to those who have spiritual as well as physical and emotional needs. Mainstream religion does an excellent job of ministering to the spiritual needs of the person; however, the physical and emotional aspects of the person are still in lack (James 2:15-16). Christian Outreach Ministries was founded solely for the purpose of ministering to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the person, especially the poor, the homeless, the lonely... the ones the Bible refers to as "the least of these" (Matthew 25:40). |
